Mount-Merapi: Indonesia’s most active Volcano

Mount Merapi, Guning Merapi, is an active stratovolcano located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548. It last erupted on 10th March 2014.
Take a scooter to the base and enjoy a jeep ride up the summit, visiting the remains of previous damage caused by the eruptions.
The power of nature.
To reach Mount Merapi, ride north out of Yogyakarta on Jl. Magelang for 45 minutes.
Turn right at Mungkid onto Jl. Bololali-Mungkid and travel towards Ketep.
At Ketep turn right and continue following Jl. Bololali-Mungkid into Selo.
From Selo ride up the steep road(on the right as you come into Selo) to the trail entrance where you can park your scooter.
Allow at least 5 hours if you plan to do a jeep ride to the summit.
